KARACHI: Power cuts persist
By Our Reporter
KARACHI, July 23: Prolonged load-shedding and unattended cable faults continued throughout the day in almost all parts of the metropolis as the Karachi Electric Supply Company faced a power shortfall of 350 megawatts on Wednesday.
The power shortage situation deteriorated mainly due to prolonged suspension of power supply from the Karachi Nuclear Power Plant (Kanupp) and the DHA’s desalination plant. Both the plants separately supplied 85 megawatts each to the KESC, which has not been available for the last two days.
Due to shortfall of electricity numerous residential localities suffered long spells of load-shedding. People from different parts of the city complained that they were without electricity for more than eight hours during the last two days.
Many consumers complained that no KESC official came to their rescue as utility complaint centre officials were least bothered about the problem. They criticised the utility for claiming that load-shedding was being carried out for two hours a day, saying that their area remained without electric supply for more than nine hours.
