LAHORE, Dec 20: Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif says every effort is being made to provide better healthcare facilities to the masses and Mayo Hospital will be made a model hospital.

He said three taskforces constituted for the provision of quality medicines to people and eradication of spurious medicines were taking action against those involved in the heinous trade.

The chief minister said Punjab would be purged of spurious medicines within next few days.

Shahbaz stated this during a presentation given by Dr Amir Afzal and Moazzam Ameer Ali regarding Healthcare Management System here on Saturday.

The chief minister said measures were being taken to look up the condition of hospitals because no sector could make progress without a healthy society.

He also directed to constitute a special committee which would formulate its recommendations within a week after reviewing the healthcare management system. He said initially this system would be introduced in three districts under a pilot project in the light of these recommendations.

Meanwhile, Federal Social Welfare and Special Education Minister Samina Khalid Ghurki called on the Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif at the Chief Minister's Secretariat.
