Five killed in roof collapses

MULTAN, Dec 20: Five people, including a couple and a minor, were killed in Rajanpur, Bahawalpur and Dera Ghazi Khan districts after roofs of their houses collapsed due to rains on Saturday.

Wali Makwal Kalwan, Taunsa Sharif tehsil, DG Khan, were asleep on Friday night when the roof of their muddy house caved in. According to the police, neighbours informed them about the incident on Saturday morning.

In Rajanpur district, an unidentified woman and a child lost their lives in two roof collapse incidents. The woman was killed at Chak Dilbar of Rojhan tehsil and a minor, Zubair Arain, in Rojhan City.

A youth, Shamsul Hassan, was killed and three of his family members -- Miran Mai, Saghiran Mai and a child Junaid -- injured at Uch Sharif, Bahawalpur, after the roof of their muddy house collapsed on Saturday.

A partial area of Shah Wali union council was inundated by a normal flood in Zangi nullah that affected wheat crop.
