KARACHI, Nov 20: Pakistan’s leading amateur golfer Mohammad Ali Hai, who led the field of 48 participants at the end of the penultimate round, was pushed to second place in the Sri Lankan Amateur Golf Championship which concluded at Victoria Golf Club, Kandy, recently.
According to results made available here on Thursday, Sri Lankan Mithun Perara played last round of two-under-par 70 to win the title by two strokes with a total score of 285. His first three rounds scores were; 69, 74, 72.
Ali Hai of the Karachi Golf Club who was outstanding in the first three rounds with scores of 71, 71, 70 to lead by three strokes played three over 75 to finish runner-up with an aggregate of 287.
The scores of three other Pakistanis were; Mohammad Safdar 306 (79, 76, 74, 77), Tariq Mehmood 310 (82, 76, 77, 75) and Aadil Jehangir 312 (79, 80, 78, 75).
The Lankans also won the International team match with Pakistan occupying the second slot.
Leading amateur golfers from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Philippines and Sri Lanka featured in the contest.
Besides, Sri Lanka annexed the General Ziaul Haq trophy which was played concurrently between Pakistan and the host.
