Pakistan will not tolerate drone attacks: Gilani Tuesday, 11 Nov, ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani on Tuesday said the whole nation was concerned about the attacks on its western borders by the US and NATO drones and has raised the issue at every forum. Speaking in the National Assembly he said, he met the US ambassador and their intelligence officials and conveyed to them Pakistan's concern at these attacks. He said that Pakistan is a responsible nuclear power and would not allow anyone to breach its sovereignty and territorial integrity. (Posted @ 16:31 PST) Detention of Javed Khanani and Munaf Kalia extended Tuesday, 11 Nov, KARACHI: A court in Karachi extended the detention of Munaf Kalia for three days, allowing the investigators to shift him to Lahore for further investigation, a court official said. A court in Lahore also extended the detention of Javed Khanani for four more days, court officials said. Pakistan's central bank suspended on Monday the licence of the prominent foreign exchange company Khanani and Kalia, of which Munaf and Javed are associates, as part of an investigation into illegal transfers abroad that comes as the country faces a sharp fall in foreign reserves. Most supplies, including fuel, for US and other Western forces battling a Taliban insurgency are trucked through Pakistan. Taliban hijacked 13 trucks without firing a shot as they passed through the Khyber Pass on Monday. (Posted @ 12:27 PST) Five factory workers killed in China earthquake Tuesday, 11 Nov, BEIJING: Five factory workers were killed when a building collapsed during a powerful earthquake that rocked northwestern China, state media said on Tuesday. The deaths were the first reported so far from the 6.5-magnitude earthquake that hit Qinghai province on Monday, about 150 kilometres northeast of the city of Golmud. The quake shook buildings hundreds of kilometres away and sent people fleeing into the streets. (Posted @ 11:32 PST) Seven Taliban killed in Swat operations: army Tuesday, 11 Nov, PESHAWAR: At least seven Taliban militants were killed in a firefight with Pakistani troops in the northwestern Swat valley, the army told reporters on Tuesday. According to an official statement, the gun fight in Swat valley took place after 'Taliban militants opened fire on troops during an ongoing army operation in Matta and Kabal districts.' According to the statement, seven militants were killed and several others were wounded. The mountainous and scenic Swat valley was until last year a popular tourist destination for foreigners and locals alike. The Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eeelam (LTTE) at the weekend reiterated what they say is a long-standing desire for a truce in the 25-year-old war, one of Asia's longest insurgencies. The top-ranked Nadal said Monday he was still struggling with tendinitis in his right knee following a week of treatment. 'These are very difficult moments, but I have done all that I could to be ready for the final,' he said. "It was a huge objective, and I'm used to playing with pain, but this is a distinct, new, pain that I couldn't control.'
