Salarzai jirga declares area cleared of militants KHAR: A jirga of the Salarzai tribe in the Bajaur tribal region has declared that the area has been cleared of militants and asked the government to set up check posts to reestablish its writ. The jirga held in Pasht on Tuesday was attended by prominent elders and ulema (religious scholars) of the Salarzai tribe who signed a written agreement not to allow local and foreign militants in their area. It was decided that lashkar (militia) would continue its activities against pro-Taliban militants.
