PTCL cable thieves caught red-handed

ISLAMABAD, Sept 20: Thieves were caught on Friday night cutting underground cables of Pakistan Telecommunication Company causing inconvenience to the subscribers.

A PTCL spokesperson said nearly a thousand telephones were disrupted in G-6/2, G-6/3, G-7/3 and F-6/4 areas.

He said the PTCL patrolling staff caught seven thieves red handed while cutting the cables.

The patrolling staff was able to apprehend the thieves when an alarm system connected to the cables sounded off and the teams rushed to the spot.

Such incidents of cutting PTCL cables and theft had become a routine over past many months not only causing huge loss to the company but inconvenience to the subscribers.
