Rally held against sale of children

DADU, Sept 20: Social workers took out a rally in the city here on Saturday against the sale of children in various parts of Sindh by their parents.

The rally was taken out by Shabad Village and Child Rights Committee. They were led by Akbar Lashari and Mujtaba Malik.

Addressing the rally Akbar Lashari said that due to poverty people were selling their children. He said that provincial and federal government should take notice and announce financial packages for poor so that they should not sell their children.

PROTEST: Small growers of taluka Johi took out a protest rally in Dadu on Saturday against acute water shortage in Chhinni, Lakha, Noonari, Pahore and Patoro waterways originating from Johi branch.

They appealed the government to take notice of mismanagement of irrigation water.

The growers staged a demonstration outside the office of the executive engineer of irrigation department of Dadu.

They said that irrigation officials were selling irrigation water at the head of the Johi branch.

They said growers had not cultivated paddy crop but now they were facing water crisis for drinking and vegetable farming.
