KARACHI: Case withdrawn

KARACHI, Sept 12: An accountability court has withdrawn the proceedings against a former deputy director of the Federal Investigation Agency in a corruption reference under the National Reconciliation Ordinance.

Judge Aley Maqbool Rizvi of the AC-1 granted on Thursday the application of Chaudhry Mohammed Sharif, filed for withdrawal of the reference under Section 7 of the NRO.

The applicant, who along with his two front men, was earlier convicted and sentenced to a 14-year term by the AC-1, then headed by Judge Qamaruddin Bohra.

The accused later moved an appeal against the trial court judgment in the Sindh High Court, which remanded back the case for a retrial.—Staff Reporter
