KARACHI: Demand for arrest of killers

Published September 8, 2008

KARACHI, Sept 7: Former MPAs Nasrullah Shaji, Hameedullah Khan Advocate and Younus Barai of the Jamaat-i-Islami (JI) have demanded immediate arrest of those involved in the killing of three activists belonging to the JI’s student wing, Islami Jamiat Tulaba in the University of Karachi and a JI activist in the Al-Falah Society, Malir, recently.

In a joint statement issued here on Sunday, the ex-members of the Sindh Assembly called upon the government not to put this issue on the backburner and take steps for an immediate arrest of the culprits. They alleged that the culprits belonged to a major party in Sindh ruling coalition.

They said it was a matter of concern that the killers could not have been arrested as yet although a private TV channel had shown the footage of the violent incidents. “Peace cannot be ensured in a city where terrorists continued to be patronized by the power corridors,” they remarked.—PPI
