PARACHINAR, Aug 27: Eleven people were injured in sporadic firing incidents between two rival tribes in the volatile Kurram region on Wednesday despite a unilateral ceasefire decision by the Turi tribe.
The fighting between the warring factions of Turi and Bangash tribes continued in Inzari, Bagzai, Alizai, Sadda, Khar Kalley, Baleshkhel, Sangina, Karman, Para Chamkani, Pawar, Tangi, Tharimangal, Maqbal, and Kang Alizai areas for the 21st day on Wednesday.
The Turi tribe announced a unilateral truce till 10th of Shawal on a request of a tribal jirga on Tuesday after which incidents of firing decreased to some extent.
Local people have demanded that the government should intervene and stop ongoing clashes between the two groups. But although the government’s deadline lapsed a few days ago skirmishes between the groups still continue.
The main Peshawar road and the Tall-Parachinar road have been closed for 10 months, cutting off the area from the rest of the country. The residents are short of food items and medicines.
