Jamali asked to step down

KARACHI, Aug 20: Federal Sports Minister Najamuddin Khan on Wednesday asked Pakistan Hockey Federation President Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali to resign from the post or face action from the authorities.

Najamuddin warned that action would be taken against Jamali if he didn’t step down following Pakistan’s poor performance in the Beijing Olympics.

The only hope for Pakistan to clinch a medal in the prestigious event was through its hockey team but Zeeshan Ashraf’s men put up a horrible show. The sports minister said the ministry wanted to carry out concrete steps to improve Pakistan’s hockey.—PPI
