KARACHI: Goods carriers’ strike begins


KARACHI, Aug 19: Goods transport operators went on an indefinite strike on Tuesday to press for their demand of a 50 per cent cut in the toll tax and other taxes, besides a reduction in the petroleum price.

The Karachi Goods Carriers Association said the recent increases in the oil prices had affected local industry, and ultimately the transportation business. Transporters have stopped bringing vegetables into the city.—PPI
