Exports up 29.48pc in July

ISLAMABAD, Aug 11: Exports registered growth of 29.48 per cent in July 2008 over the same month last year.

Official figures showed that the exports have reached $1.905 billion as against $1.471 billion over July last year.

The commerce ministry has set an export target of $22.1 billion for 2008-09.

“We will achieve the export target of the current fiscal year easily,” said Commerce Secretary Syed Asif Shah. The export proceeds recorded over 10 per cent increase in July 2007 over the last year.

The statistics, however, showed that import bill also climbed by 37.92 per cent to $3.549 billion in July 2008 against $2.573 billion over the same month last year.
