LAHORE, Aug 7: Winning back-to-back matches, Pakistan’s tennis ace Aisam-ul-Haq qualified for the ATP Challenger quarter-final in Brazil on Thursday.
In the first-round match, Aisam defeated Australia’s Andrew Coelho with the set scores being 6-3, 6-4, in the morning. The match against Coelho was shifted to Thursday due to torrential rain on Wednesday.
In the afternoon, Aisam overwhelmed Brazil’s Jao Souza 6-7 (1), 7-6 (5), 6-2.
Aisam will now face another Brazilian Daniel Silva in the quarter-final.
In the doubles quarter-final, Aisam and his partner Santiago Gonzalez of Mexico will face Henrique Cunha and Jose Pereira.
