KARACHI, Aug 1: More than 25 people were arrested in raids on two gambling dens in Mahmoodabad area.

Police officials said that the raids were conducted after a week of surveillance in the locality during which the two gambling dens operated openly in some commercial shops were noticed. The area police personnel were kept at bay during the operations, suspecting their possible connivance with the criminals, while the plain cloth sleuths deputed specifically for that purpose carried out the operation.

“We have arrested a total of 28 suspects in the raids on the two dens,” said Javed Akbar Riaz, SP Jamshed Town, adding: “All of them are involved in the crime one way or the other.”
