Three killed in road accident

ISLAMABAD, July 12: Three persons were killed in a head-on collision between a van and a truck here on Saturday, police said.

Five persons were coming to Rawalpindi from Chakwal in a van when they met an accident with a speeding truck at Nogazi Doray stop in Tarnol.

Two passengers, Mohammad Ali and Hassan Jaffery, died on the spot while three persons, Khurram, Ikhlaq and Amir Hussain, were injured. They were shifted to Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (Pims) where Khurram died.

The remaining two injured are stated to be in critical condition.

According to the police, the accident occurred due to the negligence of the truck driver who was driving the vehicle recklessly. The driver, however, managed to escape from the scene.

The police have registered a case against him and started searching for him.
