KARACHI, July 7: Six ships carrying containers, edible oil, coal, chemicals and iron ore were accommodated berths during the last 24 hours, said a PQA press release on Monday.

Meanwhile, two more ships with edible oil and chemicals also arrived at the outer anchorage.

Berth occupancy was maintained at 90 per cent at the wharves where nine ships, Lucien G.A, Inori, CS Crane, Sirios, Alfa-K, Arcadia, Al Salam-II, Qemstar and Kaghan, were busy in loading and unloading containers, edible oil, chemicals, wheat, coal, furnace oil, chemicals and iron ore.

A cargo volume of 64,500 tons comprising 62,484 tons of import and 2,016 tons of export tonnage was handled.Sailing was slow as only Al Salam left the port while Inori, Lucien and Qemstar were expected to sail out.
