QUETTA, July 6: Three miners were suffocated by gas in a coal mine in Qila Saifullah district on Sunday.

According to police sources, a group of miners was working some 200 meters inside the mine when they fainted.

Other workers immediately came out of the mine and informed the authorities about the incident.

A rescue operation was launched and three of the miners were found dead.

Other affected miners were given medical aid.

“It was methane gas that is usually found in coal mines,” officials said.

The mine has been closed and an inquiry has been ordered.
