KARACHI: Clearing agent found dead

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, June 22: A clearing agent, who went missing on Saturday morning, was found dead in the trunk of his car in Firdous Colony in the small hours of Sunday.

Gulbahar police said that 45-year-old Sohrab, son of Abdus Sattar, was a clearing agent at the airport. He left the airport in his car (ANV 650) early on Saturday morning but did not reach his North Nazimabad residence. His family reported the matter to the airport police.

The police said the agent was kidnapped along with his car while he was on the way back to his home from the airport. They said the abductors phoned his business partner, Mohammed Ali, and demanded Rs70,000 for his release. The kidnappers asked his friend to bring the ransom at the Karimabad Bridge.

Instead of reporting the matter to police, Mr Ali took the ransom to the place where a motorcyclist approached him and asked if he was the partner of their captive. When Mr Ali asked the motorcyclist to prove that his friend was in their captivity he showed the victim’s cellular phone. The motorcyclist collected the ransom and sped away, police said.

Police later found the victim’s body in the trunk of his car and shifted it to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital. The police believed that Sohrab was shot dead somewhere else, while his body was dumped in Firdous Colony.

On the complaint of the victim’s brother, Abdul Ghaffar, Gulbahar police registered a case against unknown culprits under Sections 302, 365-A and 34 of the Pakistan Penal Code.

Meanwhile, a three-day-old body of a young man was found at a desolate place near a link road in the Sachal police jurisdiction.

The body was shifted to the Jinnah hospital.
