KARACHI: KESC workers’ demand

KARACHI, June 22: The executive committee of the KESC Labor Union adopted three resolutions at a meeting held under the chairmanship of its president, Usman Baloch.

One of the resolutions urged the government to transfer 10 per cent of the KESC shares to its workers, besides giving representation to them on its board of directors.

Through the second resolution, the union demanded immediate holding of a referendum in the KESC and through the third one, it called for regularisation of all contract employees of the company.

Chairman of the union Mohammad Ikhlaq Khan appreciated the government’s announcement about transfer of 20 per cent shares of PIA and Pakistan Steel to their workers.

However, he regretted, the KESC workers’ demand for 10 per cent shares was not being met although a commitment had been made at the time of the company’s privatization.—PPI
