KARACHI, June 15: Pakistan People’s Party co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari has said the PPP will be the party that will send President Pervez Musharraf home.

He was speaking at the Bilawal House where he had hosted a dinner for the PPP provincial ministers and advisers on Sunday night. Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah was also present at the dinner.

Mr Zardari said the party wanted to provide an exit to President Musharraf and was waiting for an opportune occasion. Referring to the lawyers’ long march, he said in the past marches of even 1,000 people were not tolerated, while the present government had tolerated the march of 30,000 people.

He said that in the past, no one was allowed to even enter Islamabad to stage a protest rally, while the present set-up had adopted a democratic stance and felicitated the marchers.

He said there was room for further improvement in the performance of the Sindh government and urged the ministers, advisers and party leaders to work together. The PPP’s Sindh Executive Committee, which met on Sunday at the Chief Minister’s House with its president Syed Qaim Ali Shah in the chair, has decided to commemorate the 54th birthday of Benazir Bhutto on June 21 throughout the province with due reverence.

Earlier on Saturday night, addressing ministers, advisers and party office-bearers at Bilawal House, Mr Zardari said that he was quite aware of the problems being faced by the people of Sindh and as such, the PPP would not let them down.
