GAZA CITY, June 12: Three people were killed and 32 wounded, including a four-month-old baby, in an explosion in a house in the north of the Gaza Strip on Thursday, Palestinian medics said.
Witnesses and the Hamas movement said the blast that levelled a house in Beit Lahiya was caused by an air strike, but the Israeli military denied any involvement, saying it could have been an internal explosion.
“The IDF (Israel Defence Forces) has no connection whatsoever to the events the Palestinians are describing. Our air force and land forces did not operate at that time,” Major Avital Leibowitz said.
Hamas's Al-Aqsa television channel said the house belonged to a local commander of the military wing of the Islamist movement.—AFP
