ISLAMABAD, June 2: The government has increased the rates of three kinds of jet fuels substantially raising the budgets of civil and military aviations.

Among all the jet engine fuels produced domestically, the JP-1 -- consumed by the commercial airliners -- has witnessed an increase of Rs17 per litre for domestic airlines and stood at Rs84.90 per litre in the month of May from Rs67.9 per litre earlier.

Official statistics released here showed that the JP-1 price for foreign airlines reached Rs73.83 per litre during the month under review.

However, the government has frozen the oil prices for domestic users during the month of May in a bid to curtail the rising inflation in the country.

The government is providing a subsidy of Rs7.15 per litre on mogas, Rs4.37 per litre on HOBC, Rs44.11 per litre on kerosene and Rs33.65 per litre on light diesel oil for the benefit of the common man.

On the other hand, the two other kinds of jet fuels used by air force and army aviation also witnessed tremendous increase during the month under review.

The JP-4 price has increased by Rs14.35 per litre to Rs80.5 per litre by end May from Rs66.15. The JP-8 price increased to Rs94.81 per litre during the period under review. This fuel is mainly used by helicopters and some other aircraft.
