Plea to increase Thar allowance

Published May 21, 2008

MITHI, May 20: Government employees serving in Tharparkar district have urged the authorities to increase their salary and, particularly, the allowance they receive for working in a remote area.

Ghulam Hussain Khamisani and other APCA office-bearers said in a press release that the Sindh government in 1987 had sanctioned Rs75 monthly allowance for grade 1-15 government employees serving in Tharparkar, Rs125 for those in grade 16 and Rs200 for those in grade-17 and above.

They deplored that the allowance had not been increased for the last 20 years.
