$5m ADB loan

By Amin Ahmed

RAWALPINDI, May 20: The Asian Development Bank has agreed to provide a technical assistance loan worth $5 million to Pakistan from its special funds resources aimed at increasing farm income and promoting wheat production in under-rain-fed and irrigated areas in all the four provinces of the country.

The areas identified under the rural enterprise modernisation project for the technical assistance loan are Multan, Theri (near Khairpur), Charsadda and Quetta.

According to the Project Administration Memorandum released on Tuesday, the total project is estimated at $6.5 million. The government has agreed to provide $1.5 million, or 23 per cent of the project cost, to meet part of the local currency expenditure.
