LARKANA, May 6: Seven inmates of the Central Prison booked under 109, 110, theft and other minor cases were ordered to be released during a visit of Justice Khwaja Naveed of the Sindh High Court, Larkana Circuit Bench along with the sessions judge and the other judges of lower judiciary, on Tuesday.
During the visit some 833 prisoners complained about their non-production in courts on the pretext of non-availability of police and vans which in turn had delayed their cases.
Justice Naveed ordered lower judiciary for expediting their cases and asked the government for providing police regularly so that they could be brought to courts during hearings.
Thirty prisoners undergoing various terms ranging between 10 to 25 years requested the justice that their appeals were pending for hearing before the Division Bench since one year. He assured them that their appeals would come up for hearing within next 14 days.
Some 83 prisoners appealed to Justice Khwaja that they were eligible to be released on parole but the government was not looking into their cases.
The Jail Superintendent Pir Shabir Ahmed Jan Sahrandi said out of 83 prisoners 20 were eligible to be released on parole.
Mr Justice asked the Jail Superintendent to write to Home Department for taking up their cases to which he agreed.
