KARACHI, May 1: Importance of research in medical science was highlighted at a seminar on “Forensic Medical and Taxology” organised at the Sindh Medical College here on Thursday.

More than 20 theses on tuberculosis, hepatitis, hepatitis-C in pregnancy, traffic accidents, rape, skin diseases, pain, heart diseases and other subjects were presented at the seminar.

Professor Tariq Sharafatullah, principal of the college, said that not only diseases but social evils could also be controlled and eradicated if research work was carried out constantly in all fields. “Research plays a vital role in every walk of life and is a key to success,” he added.Prominent figures in the medical profession attended the seminar.

LLM theses

The University of Karachi on Thursday advised LLM (Final) students to prepare and submit their theses for the annual examination 2008 without a late fee up to Aug 31, 2008 and with a late fee of Rs500 up to Sept 15, 2008.

It said every thesis must be supervised by the approved directors named in the list “Annexure-A” only.

The topic of every thesis and the name of director must be intimated to the Dean, Faculty of Law, on “Annexure-B” before preparaing the thesis or at least two months before the notified date of its submission.

The topic of theses must be related to any of the 12 subjects taught in the LLM (Previous) and LLM (Final). If any student intends to present a thesis on any topic offered earlier, care must be taken to highlight the context by a new point of research and with special approval from the dean.—PPI
