PESHAWAR: 17 killed, 4 injured in two traffic accidents

PESHAWAR, March 16: At least 17 people were killed and four others were seriously injured in two traffic accidents in Malakand and Abbottabad on Sunday.

Some eight people were killed and four others were seriously injured when a tractor trailer overturned and fell into a deep ravine at Kot Totai area, Malakand region.

According to reports the victims belonged to the same family who were on their way from Mena village to Kot Totai.

The injured were rushed to the Dargai Hospital, but eight of them succumbed to injuries.

Those who lost their lives were identified as Mukamil Said son of Nooran Said, Fazal Nawab son of Mohammd Said, Suleman son of Manjawar, Jawad son of Barkat Said, Altaf son of Mohammad Qayuum, Zahid son of Nasir, Habib Rasool and Taj Mohammad.

Three brothers, Shahid, Junaid and Ubaid and a minor were shifted to Peshawar, where their condition was stated to be critical.

Meanwhile, at least nine passengers including the driver were killed when a jeep plunged into a deep ravine near village Lora some 65 km from Haripur on Sunday.

Police told that eleven passengers reportedly from the same family were traveling by a Lora bound jeep No. JAA-930 Quetta, from village Batangi when it fell into the ravine killing eight of them on the spot.
