KARACHI: Private security companies

KARACHI, March 16: The provincial home department has summoned a meeting of private security companies operating in the province to discuss the rising bank robberies in the city involving private security guards.

“We have planned a meeting with all the private security firms this week to officially take up the matter with them”, Home Secretary Arif Ahmed said.

According to sources in the home department, the relevant authorities have mounted pressure on all such companies operating without any registration and also warned them of strict legal action, if they fail to comply with the orders.

It would be pertinent to mention here that the matter was taken up last year but due to reasons best known to the relevant authorities the issue was put on the back burner and forgotten.—PPI
