Ogra law amended

ISLAMABAD, Feb 21: President Pervez Musharraf on Thursday promulgated Oil and Gas Regularity Authority (Amendment) Ordinance, 2008.

Following is the text of the ordinance: “Ordinance No. III of 2008

AN ORDINANCE further to amend the Oil and Gas Regularity Authority (Ogra) Ordinance, 2002 Whereas it is expedient further to amend the Oil and Gas Regularity Authority Ordinance, 2002 (XVII of 2002), for the purpose hereinafter appearing.

AND WEREAS the National Assembly stands dissolved and the President is satisfied that circumstances exist which render it necessary to take immediate action:

NOW, THEREFORE, in exercise of the powers conferred by clause (1) of Article 89 of the Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, the President is pleased to make and promulgate the following Ordinance:

1. Short title and commencement.

(1) This Ordinance may be called the Oil and Gas Regularity Authority (Amendment) Ordinance, 2008.

(2) It shall come into force at once.

2. Amendment of section 3, Ordinance XVII of 2002 - In the Oil and Gas Regularity Authority Ordinance, 2002 (XVII of 2002), in section 3 for sub-section (4) the following shall be substituted, namely: “(4) The Chairman shall be an eminent professional of known integrity and competence with a minimum of twenty years of related experience in law, business, engineering, finance, accounting, economics, petroleum, technology, public administration or management.”
