China congratulates Pakistan for smooth polls
BEIJING, Feb 20: China congratulated Pakistan on Wednesday on holding successful general election and said it hoped a new government would bring more stability.
“China is pleased at the successful completion of Pakistan’s elections,” Foreign Ministry spokesman Liu Jianchao said in a statement posted on the ministry’s website.
“Pakistan is China’s friendly neighbour and we hope Pakistan will continue to maintain stability, development, democracy and harmony after the establishment of a new government,” Mr Liu said.—AP
