KARACHI, Feb 12: Fancied eight-year-old chestnut Desert Hawk is on course for a hat-trick when he appears in the feature event of the Gymkhana race meeting at the Karachi Racecourse on Wednesday.

He has come out with sterling performance in the last five meetings returning with flying colours on four occasions and a good second once.

Drawn in a pack of 15 runners in the third race of the programme he starts as our day’s best and in all probability will maintain his ascendancy by overcoming the challenge.

Filly Leopard of Arab and bay Arab Hi Arab comes in the reckoning to pose him serious challenge. Mare Lady Conqueror who failed to finish on the board last weekend has the ability to bring an element of surprise.

Eight-year-old bay mare Princess Rozi is our fancy in the supporting event, top division of class VII.

She was unlucky to be withdrawn at the last moment at the starting gate after her rider Farasat Khan was dislodged from the mount last Sunday.

She is likely to be chased by Rokara and Khyber for the following two places.

Five-year-old chestnut mare Hi Darling is tipped to make amends should she land the opener. Having placed second twice she may overcome the opposition this time.

Her likely challengers are Fasten Your Seat Belt and Haibat Nak.

Bay Cape Town, bay Sanam Jan, dark bay The Choice Of The Day and filly Be Jamalo are poised to land their respective races.

A card of seven races all to be gone over four-and-a-half furlongs has been drawn for the day. The first race begins at 1.30pm.
