Payment of pensions computerised in Sindh


KARACHI, Feb 12: The Accountant General (AG), Sindh, Zulfikar Kadri, has said that computerisation of all departmental offices will be completed by the end of current financial year, and it will ensure transparent government payments and facilitate public sector.

Talking to a World Bank mission, led by Ismaila Ceasay, which called on him in his office on Monday, the AG Sindh told the delegation that computerisation was being carried out under a project to improve financial reporting and auditing, and Sindh was leading all other provinces regarding accounts services.

He said that the procedure for payment of pensions had been computerised for the first time in the country.

Kadri said that GP Fund and pension were among his priorities to facilitate government employees.

During post-Dec 27 unrest the AG Sindh and its offices continued working due to computerisation, he added.

The World Bank team applauded the efforts of AG Sindh regarding its achievement of setting targets in financial reporting and other related fields.

PIFRA director-general Shama Ehsan, additional AG Ghufran Memon, deputy AG Aziz Ahmedzai and Khalid Mehboob also spoke.—PPI
