HARIPUR, Feb 1: Three people including a man and his son were shot dead over a dispute of ownership of a tree in village Bhiraray Khanpur some 45km from here on Friday.

According to police, Zardad son of Khan Mohammad was cutting a pine tree from the nearby forest of the village when his first cousin Baboo Gulzar came and claimed the ownership of the tree, which led to an argument between them.

However, Gulzar reportedly opened fire at Zardad, his son Tahir Parwaz and nephew Khalid with a 12-bore shotgun injuring them seriously.

The injured were being taken to the Rural Health Centre but they died on the way.

The accused managed to escape from the scene, the police said.
