Seafood exporters put off strike

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, Feb 1: The Pakistan Seafood Industries Association has postponed its strike called for February 4 on the assurance of high federal government officials that the problems being faced by the fishing industry would be resolved shortly.

PSIA chairman Sardar Muhammad Hanif Khan said in a statement that the Association had no intention to pressurise the government but it wanted early resolution of problems so that the exporters could focus attention on production and export.

Due to continuation of ban on export to EU countries, the exporters had been suffering heavily and fishermen were getting low prices for their catch, he added.
