DADU, Jan 25: The Pakistan Muslim League activists took out rallies in different towns of Dadu and Jamshoro on Friday when their party candidate for NA-232 and PS-73 Liaquat Ali Jatoi arrived in Jamshoro while some people smashed windows of their convoy’s vehicles.

Reports said that the Pakistan People’s Party supporters and some other people raised slogans against the PML and pelted their caravan with stones in Johi town.

Hundreds of PML workers welcomed former federal minister Liaquat Ali Jatoi’s caravan at Aral Wah as they reached Sehwan from Dubai.

But when the PML rally reached at Bhan towns some people came out of their houses and raised slogans against Mr Liaquat Jatoi.

Later, the PML rally led by candidate for PS-74 seat, Dr Bandah Ali Leghari entered Johi town where the party workers welcomed them.

As the caravan of Liaquat Ali Jatoi travelled about one kilometre in the town, some people and PPP supporters raised slogans against him and other PML candidates.

The situation became tense as the people pelted them with stones and smashed windows of some of their vehicles.The vehicle of Mr Liaquat Jatoi remained safe as it had crossed the spot a few seconds before the attack.

Chairman Sindh United Party and candidate for NA-231 Syed Jalal Mehmood Shah, PML candidate for PS-74 seat Syed Mohammad Shah and PML candidate for PS-77 Sadaqat Ali Jatoi were present in rally.

According to some eyewitness accounts, at five different places, from Johi to Dadu, people came out of their houses and raised slogans against the PML candidates.

When their caravan arrived in Dadu town, Liaquat Jatoi was under strict police and private guards’ security however, he led the rally in some parts of the town.

Speaking to rally at the DPO Chowk, Mr Jatoi said that the PML candidates would continue their election work in Dadu.

He said that their rival candidates were attacking their rallies as they knew that they would face defeat in the elections.

He also warned that PML candidates would retaliate if anyone attacked them.

The situation remained tense in Dadu town when town police picked up a PPP worker, Habibullah Jamali, from outside of the residence of PPP candidate Rafique Ahmed Jamali.

The People’s Party supporters blocked the Dadu-Larkana road to protest the arrest of PPP worker.

PPP leader Rafique Ahmed Jamali told Dawn that police were victimising PPP workers and supporting PML-Q candidates.
