RAWALPINDI, Jan 16: Police found the body of a man stuffed in a bag in the RA Bazaar area, while an ex-employee of PTCL attempted suicide by setting himself on fire in Sadiqabad on Wednesday.

Police said the deceased was later identified as Faqir Mohammad, 36, a resident of Peshawar. He leaves behind three children. The motif behind the murder is yet to be investigated, said the police.

The deceased seemed to have been strangled, as there were bruises around his neck. The police shifted the body to the District Headquarters Hospital for postmortem.

Meanwhile, Ijaz Ahmed Satti, who worked with the PTCL as a driver and later was sacked from the job, sustained sever burn injuries when he reportedly attempted suicide by setting himself on fire in his house.

His family complained to the police that on hearing his screams, they rushed into his room on the first floor of his house and found him engulfed in fire. —Staff Reporter
