CHITRAL, Jan 12: Former MNA from Chitral Maulana Abdul Akbar Chitrali on Saturday called upon the caretaker prime minister and the defence minister to take action against the manager of the Chitral airport for his alleged negligence to clear the runway of snow.

Addressing a press conference here on Saturday, he said PIA flights could not come to Chitral as the runway was covered with snow though snowfall had stopped three days ago.

He said that after the closure of the Lowari Pass, the PIA flights were the only source to connect the district with the rest of the country.

The fomer MNA said the flights were cancelled eight days ago due to the inclement weather.

He said the postal system had already collapsed and hundreds of government officials were stranded in Chitral who had not been allowed to travel through the Kunar province of Afghanistan.
