CAPE TOWN, Jan 6: Herschelle Gibbs will return to open the innings for South Africa in the third and final Test against the West Indies starting in Durban on Thursday.

Gibbs was dropped for the second Test, which South Africa won by seven wickets to level the series, but gained a reprieve when his replacement, Neil McKenzie, was ruled out by a torn right calf muscle.

In-form fast bowler Monde Zondeki was called up as cover for Dale Steyn, who suffered a strained right hamstring during the second Test.
