KARACHI: Many stranded on way to Naudero

By Our Reporter

KARACHI, Dec 28: Thousands of grief-stricken PPP supporters who had left the city to attend the Soyem of their assassinated leader, Benazir Bhutto, had to return home after getting stuck up at different places on Super Highway and National Highway owing to disturbances and closure of petrol pumps on Thursday and Friday. The Soyem is to be held on Sunday.

The party’s media cell at Bilawal House said that a sizeable number of PPP supporters got stuck up at Nooriabad, on Super Highway, due to the violence on Thursday night and returned home after the situation improved to some extent in the early hours of Friday. However, those who braved the violence and continued their travel stranded in the middle of their journey due to closure of petrol pumps.

Hundreds of other who traveled along the National Highway could not proceed beyond Pipri due to the disturbances.
