OKARA, Dec 20: A robber and a villager were killed in an encounter between fleeing robbers and chasing villagers in Renala Sadar police precincts late on Wednesday night.

Yousaf, Bashir and Irfan of Pul Mochiwala were on their way to their village when three robbers stopped them near Chak 3/1A-L. The robbers, who were already looting people, also deprived Yousaf, Bashir and Irfan of Rs16,000 in cash and two cell phones and fled.

As soon as the robbers fled, Yousaf, Bashir and Irfan raised hue and cry to gather people from their nearby village. When the villagers chased the robbers, they fired at them from a sugarcane field and the villagers also retaliated.

Resultantly, villager Yousaf and robber Allah Ditta of Chak 25/IAL were injured seriously.

Ditta died before reaching the hospital, while Yousaf succumbed to his injuries after reaching hospital. The other two robbers fled.

Sadar police said Ditta was wanted in more than 25 criminal cases. — Correspondent
