Women’s hockey semis today

LAHORE, Dec 8: Defending champions Wapda, Lahore Colours, Railways and Faisalabad marched into the semi-finals at the end of the 23rd National women’s hockey championship pool matches on Saturday.

Wapda defeated Sukkur 6-0 as Azra Nasir (2), Aneela Naseem (2) and Aneela Khan and Saima Afzal scored one goal each.

Lahore carved out a 1-0 win against Quetta with Fauzia scoring the solitary goal.

Tehmina Siddique (8), Ayesha Bashir (6) and Hina Kanwal (2) helped Railways thrash Karachi 16-0.

Meanwhile, Faisalabad registered a 6-1 triumph over Hyderabad with Farhan (2), Fazeelat, Bismillah and Mariam scoring one goal each. Farheen reduced the margin for the losing side.

Wapda will take on Lahore while Railways face Faisalabad in Sunday’s semi-finals.
