KARACHI: Issue of 21 unclaimed bodies unresolved

KARACHI, Nov 22: The matter of handing over of five unclaimed but identifiable bodies and remains of 16 other victims of the Oct 18 twin blasts, to the Pakistan People’s Party remains unresolved as the DNA reports of these victims have not been finalised as yet.

The PPP wants to bury these bodies before Nov 25 at Garhi Khuda Bux in Larkana district and to observe their Chehlum at the PPP Secretariat Karachi on Sunday.

Sources in the Edhi Foundation have confirmed that the PPP leadership has been in contact with them to claim these bodies. However, handing over of these bodies was subjected to a clearance from the law enforcing agencies, they added.

According to the IO, Malik Raees, of the Bahadurabad police station, the DNA tests have been completed but a final report is in the pipeline.

However, he refused to disclose the exact date for the finalisation of these reports saying that it was a policy matter.

The PPP sources claim that they would soon receive the bodies from Edhi morgue and would not wait for the DNA reports. Graves had already been dug up for their burial at the Garhi Khuda Bux graveyard in Larkana, a PPP spokesman said.—PPI
