KARACHI, Nov 20: Two Hyderabad players were through to the next round after registering emphatic victories over their opponents in the KC Pakistan International Seniors tennis championship at Karachi Club courts on Tuesday.
Rafi Darbari, who got a walkover against Italy’s Peter Allmendinger in the first round, got the better of Jens Zimmermann from Germany 6-1, 6-2 in the next to propel in the last four of 35plus singles.
Playing his first match, Shabbir Gul who also hails from Hyderabad carved out a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Dutch Remko Argelo to make it to the second round in a draw of 16.
In the 45plus singles, Col Ejaz notched up a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Lankan Ayendra Jayesinghe in the first round. Nasir Laiq also won his match against Altaf Aziz straight.
Similarly, Badruddin Fakhri handed a 6-1, 6-4 defeat to Gulzar Feroz in the 55plus singles.
