KARACHI: Plantation drive in Saddar soon

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, Nov 16: As part of its beautification campaign, the Saddar Town will plant 1,000 saplings in different parts of the town. Besides, around 9,000 saplings will also be planted in schools and colleges.

Speaking at a meeting here on Friday, Town Nazim Mohammad Dilawar also urged non-governmental organisations (NGOs) to play their due role in creating awareness among the masses about the importance of greenery and cleanliness.

Expressing concern over the issue, he pointed out that pollution was also harming our coastal resources and warned that if it was not controlled timely it would badly affect the beauty of our beaches.

The town nazim held a meeting with the director of the UN Association of Pakistan and sought the support of the association in this regard. The association chief assured him that his organisation would extend all-out support during the drive and select various areas under a phase-wise programme for plantation.

According to the beautification plan of the town, renovation work is being carried out on green belts, roads, park and roundabouts.
