Vehicle clearance

Published November 15, 2007

ISLAMABAD, Nov 14: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has allowed clearance of imported vehicles till November 30, 2007.

An official announcement issued on Wednesday said that the measure was only meant to provide for the release of lawfully imported vehicles provided their Import General Manifest (IGMs) were filed up to August 31, 2007.

However, it was clarified that the facility did not cover the buses, trucks and chassis thereof, which are smuggled including tampered vehicles.

The decision was taken following the observation that the lawfully cars imported under the notification SRO487 of 2007, which could not be cleared due to expiry of limitation period provided under the order. These cars could be allowed for clearance on payment of duty, taxes and 30 per cent redemption fine by November 30.
