‘Top militants killed in Kashmir’

SRINAGAR, Nov 12: Government troops killed four militants, two of them commanders, in fresh fighting in occupied Kashmir, police claimed on Monday. Three of the militants were killed during an early morning gunbattle in the village of Dooru, near northern Sopore town, a police spokesman claimed.

One of the deceased was identified as Osman Qari, said to be a deputy chief commander of Harkat-ul-Mujahideen.

A fourth militant, Mushtaq Sofi alias Zahid, was shot dead during another brief gun fight in southern Pulwama district on Monday, the spokesman said, adding he was also a “wanted” commander with the Jaish-i-Mohammed group.
