By Our Correspondent

TIMERGARA, Nov 12: Interior Minister Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao said on Monday that the PPP government had introduced the Sharia regulation and Adl law in Malakand division in 1994, but the MMA government did nothing to enforce it.

He was addressing the inaugural ceremony of the machine-readable passport office in Timergara.

Caretaker Provincial Minister for Irrigation and Social Welfare Bakht Baidar Khan, former MPAs Sikandar Khan Sherpao and Ghani Mohammad Khan were present on the occasion.

Mr Sherpao said that opening of the passport office in town was a long-standing demand of the people of Dir.

He said that about 12 machine-readable passport offices had been set up in the country of which six were located in the NWFP and added that such offices would also be set up in Hango, Gilgit and Chitral.
