Dumping rules

BRUSSELS, Nov 12: EU’s trade chief will move soon to amend the bloc’s anti-dumping rules, but will face a struggle over the hotly contested issue of redefining what is a “European company” in an age of offshore production.

A Commission document obtained by Reuters shows Peter Mandelson, who launched a review of the rules a year ago, will tread carefully when he outlines changes to the system next month.

But despite EU divisions over how to respond to globalisation, he still plans to tackle controversial issues and will propose drafting new guidelines.—Reuters
